More Wale coming Aug 3rd

New Heat from the Dirty South

Wow, a track featuring Drake doing his half-assed singing and rapping that I still like? There's a first for everything. It speaks more to Bun B's trillness than anything. Off of his new album that drops next Tuesday.

Big K.R.I.T. is nice but gawd-DAMN Yelawolf kills yet another feature!

Thankfully Swizz Beatz keeps the rapping to a minimum and provides a trademark club heater for Busta Bust.

Voice Travel Entertainment and Out of the Box are stoked to have Kanser's DJ Gabe Garcia back again this Tuesday! He got the place rockin' extra early last time and there's no question that he'll do it again. Come early to reserve your space on the dance floor!

Interpol, "Lights"

Interpol – Lights from Mmmatze on Vimeo.

The track has taken a bit to grow on me, but this video is absolutely gorgeous! If you want to dissect it, knock yourself out! But I prefer to appreciate this for how aesthetically pleasing it is.

Sean Anon, Musab and Abstract Rude @ The Nomad tonight!

Front to back, this show is full of talented emcees that can rock a crowd.

Sean Anonymous (far right in the vid): Dude's come up the same way all emcees should come up, through the emcee battle ranks. No, the battle scene hasn't been nearly as good as it was back in the Loring Pasta Days, but this guys' skills are reminiscent of Big Zach. On top of that, he has an excellent stage presence when he's performing. Don't miss this opener!

Muja Messiah: The swag king of Minneapolis that brings the hood to every crowd.

Musab: a local legend who's been in Cali for a while and doesn't make it out to Minneapolis much any more. This is a special treat. If you miss him tonight, you probably won't see him for a while.

Abstract Rude: local Rhymesayers talent that brings some island flavor to the hip-hop scene.

Out of the Box tonight w/guest DJ's Honest12 and Willy Lose

f you haven't heard the word on the street that this is the place to get down Tuesdays, well, put your ear to the ground. We'll be rocking out to all of those jams you've forgotten about and nobody else is playing. No cover, two patios, bocce ball, and 241's after midnight. We'll also be featuring Honest12 and all of his hot lady friends going gaga. There's plenty to go around, fellas! And he's ready to mingle, ladies!

Lupe Fiasco, "And He Gets The Girl"

This is one of my favorite Lupe Fiasco tracks and yet it never was on an album. It was a vinyl-only release on the B-side of the "I Gotcha" single. Just today I found out that a music video was made for it. I'm glad that somebody felt the same as me and felt that this joint deserved a music video. It's definitely low budget and a straight re-enactment, but isn't it exactly what was going through your head when you first heard it?

DJ Tools part 1

This is the first installment of a series to provide some tools for DJ's to use either in remixes, mash-ups, or mixing. Here I am focusing on useful party instrumentals. ***Note that all of these MP3's were ripped from vinyl and, hence, may not be perfectly quantized.

Out of the Box w/guest DJ Willy Lose!

It's going down as usual this Tuesday at the Nomad. This time around we have Willy Lose, DJ for Unknown Prophets and the guy who schooled Abilities on the cuts. Don't miss Willy's debut on the wheels since his return from NYC! He's got some pent up party-rocking to get done! B'oh!

Boombox

While hanging out with my "younger" friends this extended weekend I was turned onto this group. This is some of the best downtempo lounge music I've ever heard. So get together with your worst vice, favorite friends and a sunset and let Boombox take you away.

*BONUS*
Boombox, "Midnight On The Run" from Visions of a Backbeat

Black Milk, "How Dare You"

Another teaser from the forthcoming Album of the Year.
