From Alex Pardee's e-newsletter:
The issue hits newsstands all over
the world in a few days on September 11, and I can't wait to show it
off. The issue is packed full of artists who have influenced me for
years, as well as some newer artists that are creating their own worlds
in every aspect of art from scribbling on paper to making video games.
Evan & the rest of the Juxtapoz staff were amazingly supportive of
letting me showcase who I wanted and how I wanted to do it, which means
that the issue has a good-sized fistful of absurdity amidst its
Halloweenishness. Pink vomit, human bats, M. Night Shyamalan, the
internet, dog dicks, old men, and a comic book artist who tried to give
The Joker a vagina are just SOME of the fun things included amongst the
articles and art that I have gathered together for this issue.

Support Conan, Haiti and dope art all at once
Alex Pardee created a drawing last week during all of the Conan/Leno business to show his colors. The drawing, inspired by "The Ripper" art by VCJ, was done as a lark. But after hearing about the devastation in Haiti, he decided to print up the drawing on poster stock and tee-shirts and utilize the revenue to put towards Haiti relief. This is a no-brainer, folks. Buy them for aesthetics, buy them for Alex Pardee, buy them for Conan, buy them for pop culture, or buy them to help a worthy cause.

Def Jux and Cage update
In preparation for Cage's upcoming album release (Depart From Me on July 7th), Cage and Def Jux have released an EP with tracks that won't be on the album that's available for free download here entitled I Never Knew You. The title track of the EP has a video that's viewable on the Def Jux homepage or on a previous post a few weeks back. It's definitely worth your hard drive space and time. I took this as an excellent example of what the album will be like and went ahead and pre-ordered the "Vinyl Deluxe Package" of the album here. This is worth the Alex Pardee artwork, alone! C'mon now! While perusing the Def Jux site, I stumbled across a free Cool Calm Pete download that won't come close to tiding me over before any follow up to Lost. (BTW, I can't believe I made it this far into blogging without mentioning Cool Calm Pete - dude is so talented and so unique on so many so levels that it's got me so gaga he should be on SoSoDef). Without further ado about nothing...
